Today, Corning has announced that the Galaxy Alpha
is the first mobile device to use the new Gorilla Glass 4 to
protect its 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display. The fourth iteration of
Gorilla Glass is just 0.4mm thin, which helped Samsung in making the
Galaxy Alpha just 6.7mm thin. Corning has claimed in its official
blogpost that it is their toughest protection glass yet, making it
more damage-resistant to frequent drops and protects the screen from
scratches and bumps. When Samsung announced the Galaxy Alpha in August,
it didn’t mention the presence of the Gorilla Glass 4, because Corning
wasn’t ready for official announcement. It appears that even the Galaxy Note 4 uses Gorilla Glass 4 but it hasn’t been confirmed by Corning yet.
Cliff Hund, General Manager and President of Corning East Asia, said, “Corning
