The iPhone accessory market is one factor to consider when you are considering your next smartphone purchase. STM Bags is one of my favorite case manufacturers and already has several iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cases ready to go. I spent the last week with the Harbour case in dark red color.
The iPhone 6 Plus is a large device and I don't think I am ready to wrap it in a massive OtterBox. However, lightweight cases that don't add much bulk are attractive to me for protection of the edges and back while also stiffening up the iPhone 6 Plus so it doesn't bend in my pocket.
The Harbour case from STM is available in four colors; black, green, charcoal, and dark red. These are the primary colors, but the lower hinge piece has a slightly different color to add a bit of style to the case. The dark red, looks like burgundy in real life, has a light maroon lower piece and edges.
This shell case has a soft TPU interior with a hard outer shell. Your iPhone 6 Plus will slide around on a tilted surface due to the hard outer shell so be careful where you place it. The hard surface does make it easier to insert and remove from your pocket though.
To insert your iPhone 6 Plus, fold down the lower part and slide your iPhone up and into place. The lower piece then snaps closed around the edges of your iPhone 6 Plus. You can also flip this lower piece out with your iPhone 6 Plus inside to have the iPhone stand in portrait orientation by itself. Other STM cases have this feature, but I honestly have never found the need to stand my phones in this orientation. I would prefer to use a landscape support mechanism for viewing movies and TV shows.
There are openings for the camera, ringer switch, Lightning port, headset jack, and speaker. The volume and power buttons are covered with buttons fit into the case itself.
The edges of the case are raised above the curved glass on the iPhone 6 Plus so you can safely rest your iPhone down on a table with the glass above the table.
The dark red is particularly attractive with my space gray iPhone 6 Plus and I have to admit I enjoyed using this case. It only adds 1.6 ounces to the weight of your iPhone 6 Plus. You can purchase one now for $24.99.
